Internationalisation programmes provide an extension of learning to deepen students’ acquisition of 21st century competencies and broaden students’ learning experiences through authentic learning.

Key Programmes and Activities of 2025
Shanghai Cultural Immersion Programme
From 2 to 6 September 2025, 22 students from Lakeside Primary School embarked on an enriching immersion trip to Shanghai. The programme aimed to broaden students’ global perspectives and deepen their understanding of urban sustainability.
Highlights included a vibrant cultural exchange at Penglai No. 2 Primary School, where students experienced local school life and showcased their talents through song and dance performances. Educational visits to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, the Carbon Secret Museum and the Oriental Pearl Tower provided valuable insights into the city’s green initiatives.
Students reflected that the trip was eye-opening, noting both the similarities and differences in sustainable development between the two cities.
• Filled with excitement, the students were ready to set off on their journey
• Students visited the Oriental Pearl Tower and Yu Garden, and took the Maglev train. They enjoyed the modern city skyline while exploring Shanghai’s history
• At the Carbon Secret Museum, students learned about the environmental impact of human activities and the importance of promoting a low-carbon lifestyle
• Through a Virtual Reality (VR) experience, students learned about Shanghai’s urban planning and understood the importance of sustainable development
• Students enjoyed an immersion at Shanghai No. 2 Penglai Road Primary School, where they sang and danced with their hosts, took part in a friendly balance bike race, and participated in science experiments and a Town Hall session at Penglai Town
Suzhou Xiangcheng Experimental Primary School Visiting Programme
On 7 and 8 August, students from Suzhou Xiangcheng Experimental Primary School visited our school to promote friendship and student exchange, with a focus on environmental awareness and sustainable development. During the visit, they toured our campus, participated in classroom activities, and shared ideas with our students about environmental practices, food, tourist attractions, language learning, and personal interests.
A highlight of the visit was a poetry recital by the visiting students on 8 August, which added a joyful atmosphere to our National Day celebration. Many students shared that they enjoyed making new friends and learning different perspectives on sustainability, while teachers appreciated how the exchange fostered collaboration and inspired students’ curiosity.

Online Overseas Cultural Exchange Programme with Anubansamsen School
On 23 July, our Lakers had a meaningful online cultural exchange session with students from Anubansamsen School, a school in Bangkok, Thailand. During the session, students learned more about the cultural aspects of both Thailand and Singapore, fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. They also gained a deeper understanding of environmental sustainability efforts in both countries and explored how they can contribute to more sustainable practices.

Key Programmes and Activities of 2024
Overseas Cultural Exchange Programme with Anubansamsen School
The purpose of the visit is to provide opportunities for interaction between the students of both schools, and to help Lakers develop their civil, global and cross-cultural literacy by understanding Thailand’s history, culture and language.
Our Lakers took charge by warmly hosting their Thai visitors, introducing them to Singapore's culture by visiting the Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery and sharing the tradition of Batik painting, even gifting them Batik artworks. The Lakers also led the Amazing Race within the school, allowing the visitors to learn about both Singapore's and the school's history in a fun and engaging way.

Overseas Cultural Exchange Programme with Namwon Elementary School
The purpose of hosting the Koreans is part of our school’s local-based internationalisation activities to provide authentic learning opportunities for our Lakers to develop 21st century competencies through understanding the history, culture, and language of South Korea; and interacting with their Korean peers.

Overseas Cultural Exchange Programme with Shaanxi Xi’An Gaoxin No.1 Primary School
Our Lakers took charge by warmly hosting our Chinese visitors, introducing them to Singapore's culture and education, and even gifting them with some of our local food. Our Lakers also conducted the school tour; thus, allowing the visitors to learn more about the school's history and total curriculum in a fun and engaging way.

• Mrs Liang exchanged the tokens of appreciation with the Chinese visitors.
International Friendship Day
The theme for IFD this year is Singapore in Asia. The theme is maintained to encourage Lakers to play an active role in fostering people-to-people ties, celebrate the region’s diversity and vibrancy and promote the spirit of friendship and collaboration.
Our school conducted a variety of activities to create an engaging and meaningful experience for Lakers to deepen their understanding of the relations that we share with other countries.
• Choir singing a song from one of the ASEAN members, Philippines
• Lakers designing kites - Flying kite is one of the recreation activities in ASEAN
• Lakers using the specially prepared information cards to learn more about ASEAN
• Prefects teaching their peers to make friendship bands. The colours are related to the 10 countries that make up ASEAN
